Independent Testing Campden Report
The Campden Food and Drink Research Association is an internationally
recognised non-profit making organisation which offers scientific
and technical expertise in all aspects of the industry.
Campden was commissioned to undertake a performance evaluation
of the Coolstrip Curtain System. The object of the trials was to
investigate and quantify the effectiveness of using Coolstrip on
a commercially available chiller unit meeting temperature requirements
in current legislation and in reducing energy costs.
By setting the chill cabinet temp at 3°C, thermocouples placed
inside a pack of salami over 16 hours recorded an average of 3.1°C
being well within the 1993 requirements. Furthermore, power consumption
dropped from 465 watts to 200 watts giving a saving of 60%.
Campden Report Concludes:
Coolstrip PVC curtains improve the performance of the chiller
considerably and represents considerable energy savings which have
a marked cost benefit in operating the unit over a period.
