 Research Proof
The Campden Food & Drink Research Institue is an independent, internationally recognised, non-profit making organisation that offers scientific and technical expertise in all aspects of the food industry.
Their brief
Redwood commissioned Campden to produce an evaluation report on the effectiveness of the CoolStrip PVC curtain system in reducing the running costs of a commercially available chiller unit (meeting temperature requirements in current legislation).
The methodology
A chill cabinet was set at 3 degrees C and thermocouples placed inside a pack of salami. Over 16 hours the average temperature was measured by the thermocouples and the energy consumption of the chiller logged.
The result
The average recorded temperature over the 16 hour period was 3.1 degrees C - well within the 1993 legal requirements. Furthermore, power consumption dropped from 465 watts to 200 watts, giving a saving of 60% in energy consumption.
The Conclusion
Coolstrip curtains significantly improve the performance of chiller cabinets, considerably lowering energy consumption and delivering marked reductions in running costs.
